After a fracture, you should begin physical therapy

After a fracture, physical therapy may be recommended to assist you recover to full function as quickly as possible. You may need to see a physical therapist several times after a fracture.

Your doctor may refer you to a physical therapy facility after you are well enough to leave the house to help you restore normal function following your fracture. After the cast has been removed and the area around the fracture has been mobilised, this is what normally happens. You may still need to follow weight-bearing restrictions or lifting limits at this point, so talk to your doctor about your alternatives. During your first session, your physical therapist will most likely do an evaluation and assessment. Most likely, your therapist will take measurements near the fracture site.
